Race Across UK Ride Preview

__Race Across UK is a brand new ultracycling road challenge taking place along the beautiful roads of Scotland, England and Wales. Offering a course like no offer, the route will take in the best roads and most iconic landmarks the United Kingdom has to offer as part of the ultimate semi-supported cycling adventure.__

With four distances to choose from (2500km, 1000km, 500km or 300km), the route covers some of the most spectacular landscapes and unspoilt countryside, including the stunning Cairngorms, Northumberland, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Snowdonia National Parks. With checkpoints along the route that offer showers (with towels), a place to rest, eat and recover, the event provides practical support right when you need it but without taking away from the sense of adventure. For the most part though, it is just you, your bike and your essentials taking on the challenge of a lifetime.

__A Bit More Detail__

As the saying goes, the best views come after the hardest climbs and the Race Across UK course offers iconic climbs interspersed amongst fast and flowing sections. 
For example, on the 2500km riders will have to face The Lecht, Scotland’s long and leg-burning climb up to the ski centre and the highest point on the route (642m). On the 2500km and the 1000km riders will go to the famous Whinlatter Pass (306m) in the Lake District and Buttertub Pass (524m) in Yorkshire and then, to The Tumble (482m), a Welsh climb made famous by the Tour of Britain.

With Hastings the official end point for each route distance, it promises to be a fitting finale as one of England’s most scenic places.

Time: 0900 BST 

Maximum time to complete: 40 hours

Checkpoints: One

[300km: Oxford to Hastings](https://www.raceacrossuk.com/epreuves/300-km-en/)

Start date: 3rd September

Time: 0900 BST

Maximum time to complete: 24 hours

New to the calendar and based on Race Across France, RAUK offers riders four distances (300, 500, 1,000, 2,500km) and is semi-supported. Riders are required to ride in the spirit of self-supported racing but the checkpoints offer food, a bed, and mechanical and medicinal assistance.
