Age: 48

Cap number: 4

Bike: As with the Atlas and Silk Road Mountain Race, I’ll also rely on my Salsa Fargo Titanium in Bohemia. Shifting is with a SRAM Rival AXS 1×12. I run a 32T oval chainring at the front and a 10-52 cassette at the rear. The tires are 50mm Schwalbe G-One Ultrabite at the front and Bite at the rear. They roll on Beast XC30 rims with a DT-Swiss 240 EXP rear and a SON 28 front.

Key items of kit: I ride with a mix of Revelate, Tailfin and Gramm bags. At the front is the Pronghorn handlebar harness with Stratex packsack in M. In the frame a custom made frame bag from Gramm and on the saddle rides the Revelate Terrapin 8L Harness. For the top tube, I chose the Tailfin TopTube Flip, which has a cable channel for my kLite USB charger. I also have Revelate Food Pouches on the handlebars to carry a water bottle and food.

My equipment is always changing and adapting to the respective requirements. This time I'm not using a tent and I'm riding with the OR Helium bivy sack. For some hours of sleep I use my Cumulus Xlite 200 sleeping-bag and the TAR Uberlight.

Proven in Kyrgyzstan, I also rely on the Klite Bikepacker Ultra V2 light and the corresponding USB charger in Bohemia. It is now darker again more quickly. For the long and slow passages in the dark, I also rely on my Petzl Swift RL headlamp, which has a lot of light with 900 lumens.
