Bike: Hopefully this is the bike that I'll ride for the 2024 Elevation Vercors. I spent all winter and spring thinking I'll go with my full rigid MTB (Kona Unit X), but some discussions with the organizers made me switch to my beloved titanium gravel, a Sauvage Lapiste from. Depending on the weather right before the start and the detailed route which will be revealed in a few days, I still may change my mind.

Back to the bike then. I got the frameset with a carbon fork in early 2021, and built it myself with pieces from a previous bike and what I could find in a post-pandemic bike shortage era. I've got Hunt gravel wheels with a SON dynamo and 44 mm Mezcal tyres that I got specifically for the event. That's the max clearance the frame was given with, and it's quite close at the rear (I usually go with 35-40 mm tyres and jump on the Unit for more hardcore gravel). The drivetrain is GRX, a 46-30 chainring and a 11-40 sunrace cassette, which I also got for the event, since I usually ride with a 11-34, which seemed a bit short for all the elevation gains we'll have to face. For the rest I have second-hand Ultegra brakes, Deda aerobars, titanium seatpost and stem. I trained with both flat and spd pedals, and I intend to go with the flat ones.

Key items of kit: For the bags It's mostly Apidura, with top-tube, frame and saddle expedition packs; I also have a stem bag from decathlon on the left side of the bike, and two cargo cages on the fork for a quick acess to a long-sleeve kit and rain/wind jacket. Food will be in the frame and stem bags. No sleeping bag for me, I have a bivy and more layers with the repair kit in the saddle pack, I think it will be enough for a couple hours naps. For the night, I have Busch & Muller lights (dynamo powered) with a built-in USB charger.
