Bike: I welded my frame by myself when I was 17. I wanted a bike made in Europe with Columbus Zona tubes. I also wanted it to be as original as possible, so that people who pass me would immediately recognize me (that explains the bright orange color). It took me a whole year to build this bike, it all started with the design on bikecad. Then there was the choice of parts, so I have the only groupset Camplagnolo record single chainring, I replaced all the bearings with ceramic bearings.

  • My seat post and handlebars are carbon sworks.
  • I have a ChrisKing headset.
  • my saddle and mirror are from the BERTOUD brand

Once I succed the medecine school exam I bought customized wheels and a system to be self-sufficient in electricity, I have a front and rear headlight from son and a forumslader to charge my devices (he is a German geek who created this to be able to charge your devices with fast charging even when you are stopped). This entire system is powered by a son dynamo.

Key items of kit: I wanted the most optimized bags for my needs (I'm a psychopath for order and optimization). I learned to sew from my grandmother when I was younger, so I just took out my sewing machine. My bags are made of dynema, XPAC, parachute canvas and wake board sail.

  • in the saddle bag I have SEA TO SUMMIT a “Reactor Extreme Sleeping Bag Liner”.
  • in the wheel bag there is a very easy-to-access rain windbreaker.
  • in the frame bag there is a bivi from SOL, my mattress, a spare shorts and a spare jersey?
  • in the downtube container there is my repair equipment, my toiletry bag and my reflective vest.
  • in my top tube bag there is a jacket, my arm warmers, my gloves for the cold, and a space for food.
  • between my extensions bars there is a sort of aero food pouch which I will use to put all kinds of things (food, drinks)

Bike: I ride a Wilier GranTurismo SLR equipped with a SRAM Force Groupset. Gearing is 48/35 with a 10/36 cassette. The Wheelset is DT Swiss ERC 1400 35mm with 28/30mm P-Zero 4S tires. There is a SON 28 dynamo hub in the front to power a SON Edelux II and to charge my devices. The mount for the light is custom 3D-printed to fit under the garmin mount (thank you STRADE ARGOVIA:). As rear lights i use two battery powered b+m ixbacks. I use aerobars from Syntace and my saddle is an SQLabs 612.

Key items of kit: My bags come from Apidura. I use two bags only, the saddle bag is for clothes and tools and the frame bag for food and electronic devices. I got bottlecages from Restrap that open to the side to avoid hassle with the frame bag.

Age: 35

Cap number: 27

Location: Munich

Bike: Cube Nuroad C:62 SLT (2024)

Key items of kit: I prefer comfort over speed, which is why I've chosen my gravel bike with 38 mm low profile tires (the Rene Herse Barlow Endurance). The bike is equipped with the Sram Eagle XX1 AXS group set (40 T in front, 10-50 in the back). Other than that, it’s just another typical Apidura bikepacking setup mixed with the Cyclite Aero Bag. Since the size of my frame does not allow me to carry enough fluids, I will also be wearing the 3 L USWE hydration pack. My Supernova Airstream and Sigma Buster helmet light will guide me through the night. In the back I trust my Lupine Rotlicht Max as well as my Garmin Varia for busy roads attached to my saddlebag with the Cyclite Radar Mount.

Bike: Finna Taroko gravel bike with sram rival etap 1x groupset. With a 40 teeth chainring and a 10-42 cassette it should be enough to get over the peaks. 32mm continental 4 seasons tires for a bit of comfort on aluminium 30mm ERE Research rims.not so aero aerobars to get some relieve for the wrists

Key items of kit: I wont be competing for the fastest or lightest setup but chose for a bit of comfort during the race. mixing ortlieb fork and saddle bags with Apidura framebags.

After long consideration I did decide to take a tent with me. Not sure I will carry it all the way to Nice though. A sleeping pad (Forclaz) and sleeping bag (vango) will keep me comfortable at night.

Wahoo Roam V1 to guide me and Lezyne lights to show the way at night. And a powerbank and charger to keep everything powered

Clothing wise all the essentials: bib shorts, jersey, socks, gloves, rain jacket etc. But did decide last minute to bring a down jacket as well for some extra warmth of it gets cold.

Bike: Standert Pfadfinder / w. • Sram Rival • Scope R4 / Conti GP5000 32mm tubeless • Fizik Argo Adaptive • Mix of Maap x Apidura & Cyclite Bags

Key items of kit: Isn’t actually everything a key item? I am super happy with my total set-up … Sleeping stuff all in the front, ultra light down jacket (it just feels good to be safe), medical kit and rain stuff in the back - and a lot of space for food in between. :) I probably love the Cyclite top tube bag most - it’s stays in place, is just super stiff and well thought thru: all electronics, wallet etc are stored here - dry, safe and easy accessible.

Luxury item(s) defo is my inflatable pillow, insulated bottle and double wrapped bar tape. A small Lucky Luke figure is placed in front of the bar bag as my lucky charm. PENG! Full Force!

Navi: Garmin Edge 1040 solar on a TT mount 3.0 (spare My cell phone on a Quad lock mount)

Key items of kit: Lucky I'am 193cm so i can use big frames, which leads to the point that i can use always or most of the time the large bag kits without thinking how would they fit in my frame :-) .

Downside 193cm gives quite some amount of Air resistance and payload not to say I have a CW value of a stop sign lol.

Love to have my bike slim and compact and I'll take only stuff with me whats really necessary even I can use the larger bags.

More or less I'am using always the same setup depending on the upcoming weather or climate situation as also terrain.
