Byron Buck

Age: 38

Cap number: 24

Location: Derby, UK

Bike: For TPR, I'll be riding my Ribble CGR Titanium. It's a great "do anything" bike which I use for most of my long distance riding. It's slightly on the heavy side, but I've ridden this thing at mountain bike trail centres so know that it should be robust enough for the rigours of TPR.

Key items of kit: My bags are a mixture of Ortlieb, Alpkit and Profile and I simultaneously feel that I carry too much and not enough - I haven't been brave enough to forgo bivvy kit of some kind. For lighting I've gone with dynamo lighting front and rear, given the long nights we'll be facing, with a decent powered battery light up front so I can properly light up those descents. Luxury item: 1 spare pair of shorts. Most essential item: small mascot on my top tube bag to remind me, when I'm really struggling, that it's only a bike ride and I'm here for fun after all.
