Bike: Cannondale Synapse 2019 – the bike I wanted to ride last year but couldn’t! Now with a new fork, which was the achilles heel last time.
It features pretty standard components – a Shimano 105/GRX/Ultegra mix, with a long-cage RD, Hollowgram 50/34 chainrings and a 11-34t cassette.
My learnings from last year resulted in changing from road bike cleats to SPD, which makes off-bike logistics a bit easier.

Moritz Petersen

Cap number: 12
Location: Hamburg, Germany
Bike: Standert Pfadfinder with SRAM Force AXS D2 Groupset and Scope R4.A wheels
Key items of kit: As this is my first Ultra, I have watched countless videos and listened to days' worth of podcasts to develop a good setup. I will go with Tailfin Half Frame Bag (for a waaay too large and heavy powerbank, cables and chargers, first aid kit, and some clothing), Tailfin Long Top Tube Bag (primarily for spares and tools, documents, food, and the tracker), CYCLITE Saddle Bag (full outside sleeping gear, down jacket, hygiene kit and some more clothing), and two AGU food pouches (obviously for food but also for the pair of glasses not sitting on my nose). I will navigate with a Garmin Edge 1050 and likely take the Garmin Varia. The lights are Supernova Airstream 2 and some cheap Sigma rear lights. I have packed and repacked stuff multiple times over the past weeks, so the final distribution of stuff onto bags might still change. Overall, this event consumes a vast amount of mental space right now, and it is high time to finally hit the road and test everything. My family agrees 😊

Bike: Canyon Ultimate CF SL (2019) with 11 sp mechanical shifting and a mix of Ultegra/GRX/DA components. The 48/31 crankset paired with an 11-30 cassette offers a good climbing gear while remaining tight enough for a comfortable cadence on the flats. New to the bag setup is a Tailfin frame bag (2,3 l), which still leaves enough space for two 950 ml bottles. A 20.000 mAh power bank will keep my aging iPhone and Garmin tail light charged as needed. Two powerful front lights and a Coros Dura bike computer will hopefully last through the entire race without needing a recharge.

Bike: Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2, Ultegra RX, 50–34 / 11–34
I swapped the stock Giant SLR wheelset for Leeze CC 38 Basic R. Since the new rims aren’t hookless, I’ve got full freedom in tyre choice, which I love. I’m back to tubes—mainly to avoid spraying sealant all over the road (and myself) if something goes wrong ;) I’m running Continental GP5000s: 30mm up front and 32mm in the rear. This combo hits the sweet spot for me: comfort, rolling resistance, weight, and aero all in balance.
Aero bars: Honestly, I just enjoy riding with them. They feel fast, comfy, and make those long flat stretches more fun.
Key items of kit: Apidura frame bag, top tube bag, and food pouches – everything I need within reach, especially snacks. I went with Apidura’s food pouches specifically because they open and close one-handed, even when things get rough. I’m also using a small Ortlieb seat pack for the rest of the gear (bivy, down jacket, etc.).
Lupine SL MiniMax AF 7: Hands down the best light I’ve ever used. Super bright, reliable, and surprisingly small.

Bike: My bike is an aluminium Canyon Grail. I put my parcours FKT aero gravel wheelset on with 35 mm continental gp5000 All season tyres that balloon up to 38 mm. I also installed a SRAM AXS XX1 derailleur and 10-52 cassette. With the 36T chainring this will get me up most climbs.
Key items of kit: The aerobars with the revelate pitchfork bag give me lots of space for snacks within easy reach. The tailfin long toptube bag is also on there for the same reason.
