Adventure Syndicate Update #3

As Jenny makes her way ever-eastwards, we'll be bringing updates from the people behind the scenes of the attempt: The Adventure Syndicate.

  • Current location: Geri Le'ao Dusumu, China
  • Miles covered so far: 5,836
  • Estimated miles to go: 12,164

The Gobi desert has been kind for Jen, as she moves from Mongolia into China. One sidewall blew out in the heat of the desert, but some typical local kindness has fortunately been able to keep her on the move, and keep spirits high. One gentleman on a motorbike even doubled back with an ice cold Pepsi and ice lolly for her!

One of the key challenges of this stage of the journey was the border crossing from Mongolia into China, across an area of no man's land. Due to the strict border control, it is forbidden to walk or cycle in this area, meaning that any travellers looking to cross must be in a vehicle in order to move between the two countries. Luck was on Jen's side though, as a couple of locals were happy to take her the short distance with her bike balanced on top of their minivan. Don't worry, the bike made it through that experience fine, too.
