I'm well into my 60s now and started onto the idea of ultra cycling in September 2016 having read of The Transcontinental Race when browsing online about custom bikes.
Something clicked in me and I knew it was time for me to embark on a new phase in my life and some new challenges. I now have two Transatlantic Ways, an Ultra Bike Pursuit Pyrenees and two long route Pan Celtic Races under my belt. I’ve learnt a lot about myself and ultra cycling now, so, in 2024 I’m embarking on my longest ultra to date, the Pan Celtic Race Magnum Opus.
I’ll be starting at Lands End and self routing my way to the Isle Of Man in time to join the rest of the PCR Clan for the start of the standard long route Pan Celtic Race to Inverness.
My challenge as always is to balance riding as swiftly as possible with caring for my body and mind enough to make the finish.
