The main man is back

We've had plenty of 100 and a few 200 riders roll back in to the finish during the night including Hugh Warwick - still smiling!

There are no more dots left on the 200 route, but there are a couple of undercover heroes still out there. 

On the 100, there's quite a few who's tactic was to break this into a 50:50 affair and camp, with the Stroud Valleys playing host to many an impromptu camp site setup - read kip in a field!

Notable mention to our sole fatbike rider, Jon Clucas. Still trucking round the route, clocked here on a co-op resupply mission. I completed the inaugural GBDURO on a drop bar fat bike - it would be rude not to tip the hat to a fellow fat bike rider!

First two in were Martin Wright and Paul turner. Rounding out the podium was a solid ride from Sam Failes. Alan Goldsmith has also just rolled in P4, Great ride!

Elsewhere over on the 100, The leading riders will shortly be approaching the finish, Its all been pretty quiet on the whatsapp group from 100 riders, too busy sending it down all the amazing trails we hope. One bike at the start did catch our eye though!

Spencer Pritchard, taping all the essentials including 4 cans of monster to his rig!! One can was liquid cooling the rear tyre before the first climb!! no cold tear happening here!!!

Afternoon update

This morning has began as a misty drizzly affair, those who have pulled an all nighter testified to this. In total we've had 10 riders in - all 10 of them well under the previous FKT!

The podium is as follows
1st Adam Palin
2nd Carwyn Davies
3rd Angus Buchanan

Other riders finishing under 24hours include in no particular order, Chris Williams, Ben Sandin, Oliver young, Harry Whiles, Chris Rudd, Sam Green and Chris Noble - on a Singlespeed.

The Women's category is all to play for!

Hunted down the leaders this morning. Cordelia Hughes now leads by approx. 13 mins although I did tell her that there was a Hobbs bakery just up the trail so that lead may well evaporate! Hot on her heels is Hannah Williams whos only question was whether Cordelia had passed! Chase mode engaged, could be an exciting afternoon!  Hannah currently has Jack Johnson for company

Our 100 mile event also kicked off this morning at 830am, just as a gaggle of 200 mile riders were finishing - nice to be greeted with a round of applause! A total of 36 riders have headed out onto the shorter event. 51 Started the 200 mile yesterday.

Morning update

Adam Palin is the first rider back, rolling in to where it all began at 04:46... 19 hours and 16 mins if my pre coffee maths are correct!

Second rider Carwyn Davies has just rolled around 6.00am, there's around 10 other riders who look to have done a full night shift, expect a flurry of riders in over the next couple of hours.. just as the 100 event gets under way.

First rider back

Rider refuelling and night shift commencement is in full swing.... its basically an eating competition anyway right?!

Harry Whiles and Oliver Young tag teaming a raid of the Chipping Campden Co-op - a point that marks halfway on the route for our riders and has no doubt been popular for the leading riders. 10pm closing time means subsequent riders will have missed the ticket.

There are however many ways to tackle a bikepacking event like this, it doesn't necessarily need to involve sitting outside convenience stores on the pavement stuffing your face with whatever was in aisle 3. Mick Collins here living it up on pub stop 2 of the day!

As of 22:20, We have our lead three currently as follows

- Adam Palin 133 miles
- Carwyn Davies 129 miles
- Angus Buchanan 127 miles

Our leading three females are as follows.

- Hannah Williams 97.2 miles
- Cordelia Hughes 90.4 miles
- Lucy Wood 74.5 although update is 2 hour old so figure will likely be greater and is possibly riding with or in close proximity to Cordelia.

With the pace of the leading riders, assuming there is no let up in pace , or the sleep demons set in, then we should see leading riders hitting a finish time of around 20 hours! This means by the time most of us are awake, they will be at the finish.

We've had a few riders complete the 100 route, Phil Rite, Nath Manning, Adam Gormley with Anthony Ball due in any minute. We've also got Simon Harris who has only just started the 200 route this eve - work constraints were not stopping him coming out to play albeit on a revised agenda!! legend.

I'll sign off the the eve by sharing this cracking shot from Simon Morse, who has diverted on to the 100 route today of Tyndale monument, he reports it being "calm and peaceful under the big red moon"

The evening shift begins

Wow what an afternoon weather wise! Riders have been treated to dry, calm conditions to really take in everything this route has to offer.

The lead riders have turned the extreme northern tip of the route with very little to choose between them. Compton Scorpion scores highly as a place name too!

We've had a few riders decide that 200 was biting off a bit more that they could chew and have diverted onto our 100 mile route option. Same great trails but in a smaller package.

The leading riders have safely cleared the Hazel Wood descent and into the Stroud valleys near Nailsworth.
