Sad news first, the serpents tail tip Hartwig  Krebitz called it a day and is out of the race. Kudos to cap #63 you fought brave. The reasons remain in the dark for now. Pair 157a/b Csapó Zolt and Papp Vírag are about to finish together with pair #130a/b. Another pair is following closely with 10 km to go. Cap #146a/b Andrea Reall with Vanessa Golinelli it is. A solo serpent follows their line, #108 Lena Teuber is on the final descent into Triest too. Leaves four serpents still in Slovemnia.Caps #91 and #95 advanced further up the tail making pair #131a/b Loris Ortlieb and Jessica Richter the new lantern rouge. With 50 km to go they should make it in the remaining 4 hours. Kudos to all of you serpents, I followed you closely. Please forgive me having not been able to mention everyone, be assured, you have been seen. It was a pleasure to be your digital companion. I try to do a final update tonight if possible. As I said we are off to Gravelbirds and on the road. Stay safe and enjoy thge ride.

All good things come to an end.The final day of Quick Bite! 24 has come. With eight hours left the serpents tail is gliding to Triest. Cap #63 Hartwig Krebitz is the tail tip with 90 kilometres left. About 20 km less for caps #91 and 95 Frederico Rosso and Alessandro Savio. I am sure they all will get to the Piazza by night. Enjoy the ride.

What a story! Remember pair #160 Antoni Grau Zorito and Aran de Mingo Jovani? They went back to Rijeka, visiting bike shops and I had no clue but speculations. So what happened? Well, cap #160a Antoni had to buy a new bike after some major mechanical issues. Check out [Bikes of Quick Bite! 24](https://dotwatcher.cc/feature/bikes-of-seven-serpents-quick-bite-2024) to see what he rode before this wonderful hardtail MTB with probably quick release axles and 2x drivetrain. Further details remain unknown, but what a story and they already finished in 84hrs 20mins. Well done. Currently we have Hanna Taverna and Anne Oettli (#147a/b) finishing. Next are pair #134 who are currently off the route a bit with less than 20 kilometres to go, maybe a glitch. Hartwig Krebitz, our lantern rouge just crossed to the mainland and is on istrian shores. Some are already settling for the night and will finish tomorrow. Good news, pair #160 is back on track. They took the train from Rijeka to Lupoglav and are about 50 kilometres away from Triest. Today the weather seems to be nicer than yesterday when some got wet several times.

Same for Chris who finished in pouring rain but was happy about a clean bike (check the Insta story of @sevenserpents) and pair #130 felt cold. But Allesandro and Nunziella made it to Istria despite it. So far we have four solo riders and two pairs on Cres. It is the lantern rouge plus Frederico Rosso cap #91, Alessandro Savio cap #95 and Lena Teuber cap #108. They all could make it to the mainland before the last ferry leaves which puts them in a good position for the final 125 kilometres to the finish. Currently already in Italy and about to finish in daylight is Patricia Wascher #156a who continued as solo rider after Stefan (#156b) scratched. She is followed by #133a/b Julia Radzewitz and Sebastian Walasiewisz. [Papa Mule](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6tBsios6gR/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)The serpent snakes towards Triest. The lonely dot on Krk is lantern rouge Hartwig cap #63. All other riders are on Cres and in Istria. Two more pairs made it to Triest #162a/b Anna Marika Cassol with Stefan Ropele and #144a/b Michael Sartori with Allesia Ortile. Pair 163 with the erratic tracker of Phillip Blass is united at the final ferry. Our rogue pair #160 who popped up in Rijeka yesterday is still there. Analyzing the movement they took the train and went to two bikeshops, so possibly a technical issue that prevented them from going further to Triest. Hopefully they can make it happen. Still one day left. Papa serpent is happy to welcome all the serpents, big thank you for caring. Outstanding. Check the Instagram for pictures.    

Good morning everyone. As predicted, those close to Triest pushed through to the finish. This means that 79 solo and 16 pair serpents (8 pairs) are in. Thus are more than 50 % are in. Out are a 38 solo riders although this includes those like cap #76 Philipp Trinkl whose tracker hadn't move for two days. The pairs are snaking forward with 10 pairs or 40 riders out. Two major snakeballs are underway. Largest group ascending in Istria up to CP3 and the second heading for the ferry in Valbiska on Krk. Lantern rouge is unchanged but joined by cap #63 Hartwig Krebitz on Krk. Weather should be fine for today, maybe a little drizzle but fair temperature. Happy riding.

A quick update and outlook. So far we will have #51 Katrin Beubler, #2 Phillipp Altenberger on the Piazza when I finished writing and #54 Jürgen Jacob, #123 Andrea Veronese, pair #161 Erik Bizzoni with Carolina Zardo and Yotam Cohen cap #17 with less than 20 kilometer to go. Further down the road but on the move are #97 Anton Schäfer, #46 Tim Hanel, #13 Tobias Callister within 50 kilometers closely followed by pair #152a/b Paul Vierus and Christoph quiring. 

Up front are two riders who took a different route #57 Thomas Karl and 142a Tobias Sigmund. One can only speculate about possible reasons. Nothing known for sure by now.

Around km 450 three pairs of serpents took shelter for the night. More pairs cuddle around Brseč. Pair #147 Anne Oettli with Hanna Taverna is at the ferry in Cres and might cross over to the mainland before midnight. Good choice! Wether #96 Bartosz Sawicki will join them is uncertain as he has been her for a while now.Three more serpents are on the island. Katrina Heiskanen cap #49 in the village Cres and at the ferry port Merag we have pair #130 Allessandro Giordo and Nunziella Salluce joined by #93 Iason Polymeros. It looks as if they climb up from the port maybe to Cres. On Krk the serpents tail seems to be asleep already. Good night little serpents.

One strange thing happens on the mainland. Pair #160 Antonio Grau Zorita with Aran de Mingo Jovani came back all the way from Lupoglav at km 450. Maybe we will know more tomorrow.

The serpents are pouring into Triest with 74 serpents having finished. The cargo bike with Alessandro Grisotto cap#89 is in with a time of 59hrs and 15mins. The pair podium is complete with pair #164 Elisa Roux and Giorgio Emanuel coming in second in 53hrs 4mins. Third is pair #137 Jan Drbusek and Filip Rejda in 54hrs 17mins.

Illaria Occhipinti cap #145a has birthday and got a present from Samaranda Chifu Cap #145b. Such a lucky serpent!

Current lantern rouge is pair #131 and solo serpent Lena Teuber cap #108 on Krk. No rush, you still have two days left!

What else happened? Mathieu Decouttre is back in Belgium and feeling better. Marcus Nicoloson had his bike stolen on the way back (see extra post).

Day 3 - Serpents flooding Triest and Pair podium completed

Shocking news on Instagram. Marcus Nicolson who finished 9th yesterday and had some tracker issues in the beginning had his bike stolen in the train from Verona to Bolzano. If you spot it please help.

In light rain Anouk van den Bielerden cap #112 rolled onto Piazza Unità d'Italia in Triest. Well done and congratulations. She joins Hannah Ghazi-Idrissi and Sandra Gardill on the womens podium. She finished 38th overall with a time of 52 hrs and 7mins, just 17 minutes behind Marco Guiliani (cap #41). Johanna Wildmoser cap #118 is the next solo serpent on her tail with 30 km to go.
