Day 5 of the 2025 Sostice Sprint started with just 4 riders out on the road, all with around 200km left to ride.

First home was Christine, at just after 4:30pm, winning her battle with Cheryl that had been going on since the start.

She was soon followed by the final pair of Alain & Dana, who have made the most of a glorious weekend of sunshine riding, I wonder how their night at the Avebury Stone Circle was?!

And finally our Lantern Rouge, Cheryl who by all accounts has had a blast of a weekend, always smiling and chatting when Niel saw her, ticking along at her own pace. She finished at 6:30pm in a time of 105.5hrs

I caught up with Liam post race and he had this to say:

> I am pleased to say to that all riders have returned home safely, this is first and foremost my absolute priority and primary measure of success.
> This year’s Sprint may well be my favourite to date. The electric finales between Nicky, Esther and Alli, and  Tom, Tim and Trystan were incredibly exciting, however, a special mention should also go out to everyone who lined up on the start line. Turning up to face an ultra like the Sprint knowing the weather will be torrid take’s character, every single rider should hold their heads high.
> I feel privileged to have met and shared the journey with such an awesome group of people and can’t wait to see everyone again at the next Solstice Series Trial.

Day 5 - Curtain Closes

As the weekend draws to a close, there are just 4 riders still out on course.

In the womens field Cheryl and Christine have been yo-yo-ing all day. It appears from their trackers that they have both stopped for the night one at a premier inn the other just up the road in Beckhampton. They have around 200km to pedal tomorrow to what will have been an epic weekend adventure for them both.

In the pairs race, Alain and Dana have reach the Avebury Stone Circle, for what will be thier last night out on the road, can't think of a better place to camp down for the night on this warm evening. They will also be looking to cross the line tomorrow in Warwick.

Day 4 - Sunday Twilight

As the sun continues to beat down on the Solstice riders, HQ has seen a flurry of activity all through the night and this morning as weary legs cross the finish line.

In the womens race, as predicted yesterday, Dulce and Heidi came home in the early hours, Heidi really having a strong end to the race and finishing just 8mins behind Dulce! Saz also made it home in time for breakfast, hopefully replacing her cravings for cheesestrings out on the road!

In the next few hours or so we should see Alison, Jess and Jenny also cross the finish line. Jess has had another eventful morning bouncing between the highs and lows of ultraracing, plus a random rain shower.

Niel has been catching up with Nicky over on [instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLNGD8ON1pL/?igsh=MWFnbms2eWR3cXd1Zg==), so head over there to hear her incredible story and race plan, plus what it meant to have such a strong womens race! 

In the mens field, there are just 4 riders left out on course all with less than 100km to go, so they should all be home for a good sunday roast this evening.

In the pairs, Antoine & Jean and Duncan & Marcus should also make it home this evening. Thr reamining 2 pairs have around 250km to go, so depending if they ride through or not tomorrow morning might be thier aim.

And finally out Lantern Rouge is now Christine, Cheryl is only 20km up the road, and they have around 300km to go so expect them both tonreach Warwick tomorrow!


Day 4 - Sunday Roast

As the sun sets on Day 3 of the Solstice Sprint there has been a mass influx of riders arriving at finish HQ in Warwick.

In the mens field there are a small group of riders with less than 100km to go, so they should be arriving in the early hours of the morning. Everyone else should be arriving tomorrow at some point. Shout out to Archie Roberts who seems to have stopped for the night at the Avebury Stone Circle, on Solstice night, he is in for one hell of party!

In the womens race, Dulce has 80km to go, so again hopefully will be arriving in the early hours. Heidi has been steadily closing in on Dulce, and has 120km left, a little to late for a surge to take 6th place?

Cheryl did indeed stop in Rhayader for the night, but has also caught Christine Lee, so they are currently sharing the Lantern Rouge. 

Also in Rhayader, by the looks of it camping, are Alice & Andrew Campbell, they are around 20km down the road from Alain and Dana who have also stopped for the night, so maybe a pairs battle will be brewing for tomorrow.

Day 3 - Evening Shift

As we head into the evening shift on Day 3, riders will be grateful for the cooling temperatures.

In the womens race Fiona is around 10km from the finish line to take 5th place. Dulce has around 160km left so will hope to be done in the early hours if she rides through. 

[Jess Golding](https://www.instagram.com/in_the_jesky?igsh=NXhrdW1obTZqMzQw) has said she has found today hard going with hour long climbs, a quick descent and then another hour long climb - keep it up Jess!

Saz has said it has started to rain and its the happiest shes been (has anyone ever said this aboht rain in Wales?!) this is despite saddle issues, sore legs and a sore achilles!

In the mens race the top 20 is nearly complete, with the sunshine being out there are plenty of dotwatchers out on the roads. Ollie Trewavas caught up with Guy Marks, who has 100km to go, he said he was in great spirits, having had 2 nights of great sleep and was now in pac-man dot munching mode! He and the riders around him should be done around 10pm.

In the pairs Brad and Rhys have just 60km to go, so timed perfectly for a nice evening meal out in Warwick - theres a great Indian I can recommend!

Our Lantern Rouge, Cheryl, is currently heading towards Devils Bridge and the Elan Valley, maybe aiming for a night time stop in Rhayader.


Day 3 - into the early evening

As the midday sun blazes down on another day at the Solstice Sprint - our roaming reporter Niel was dispatched in his van to the Elan valley to capture the vibes of the riders. Now he also has a bike with him and having gone to ride out to meet a few riders this happened....

He was then on foot. Lesson: Always keep your bikes well maintained kids! 

It appears everyone has had a good sleep in Aber and is feeling positive, with cloud cover being a nice advantage this morning, he [caught up with Duncan and Marcus](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLKZsBssEXk/?igsh=MWZqenY0eHp1aG9sNw==) who after a great night in a Premier Inn were loving life!

In the womens race Ede has come home just a few hours behind the top 3, having contributed in the exciting race that unfolded over the first 2 days. We are expecting Fiona to finish early this evening whilst more will come home tomorrow.

In the mens race, the top 10 is complete, with under an hour separating 8th,9th and 10th which was a sprint to the end for Darren, Taratuga and Henry.

In the pairs, as expected this morning, Eva and Stanley finished at lunchtime to bring home 2nd place. Current 3rd place pair Brad and Rhys have 150km to go, with a big gap of nearly 200km behind them, so they can chill and bring it home this evening to complete the podium.

Day 3 - Lunchtime is calling

There has been a flurry of activity overnight and this morning at race HQ.

After Tom finished around 10:30pm last night a couple of hours later Tim Shao came home in 2nd, followed a few hours later by Trystan. The "Three T's" had been at the front of the race for most of Day 2 onwards and held their positions until the end. 

In the womens race, less than an hour after Nicky finished. Esther and Alli sprinted it out for the final podium places. Esther pipping Alli by a mere 7mins! 

The womens race has been incredible to watch and shows how strong the fields are at the moment, with all 3 going sub 48hrs!

Christoph and Hunter have just crossed the line in Warwick to win the pairs category, extending their lead further overnight to finish comfortably ahead of Eva & Stanley who we should see arrive around lunchtime.

Liam and his team will be having a busy day at HQ as riders aim to finish off what has been an epic few days!

Day 3 - Women’s and Men’s Podiums Complete and a Pairs Winner!

Nicky has done it, defending her 2024 Solstice win by coming home in the last 20mins in a time of 45hrs 55mins, smashing her personal target.

Pushed all the way by Alli and Esther, Nicky pushed on through the night to build a gap and maintain until the end.

Time for some well deserved sleep!

There's now a sprint finish to decide the final order of the podium with less than 2km separating Alli and Esther.

What an incredible womens race this has been!


Day 3 - Back to Back Winner

We have a Men's winner, after 37hrs 22mins, __Tom Fitton__ has crossed the finish line at Warwick Sports Club.

He set a blistering pace from start to finish, only stopping for a total of 26mins across the 1000km.

Chapeau and now have a well deseved cold beverage and some sleep!


Day 2 - We have a Men’s Winner

Its been another tough day in the sunshine for a lot of riders, scratch reports have been rolling in thick and fast this afternoon, with around ten riders calling it a day. Many are making their exits at key transport hubs — Aberystwyth, Machynlleth, and Hereford.

[Niel caught up with Jess Notzing](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLIET9Jtrkk/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) as she was suffering from heatstroke in Aber, before calling it a day. 

In the women’s race, it’s all still to play for with just under 300km remaining. Nicky, Esther, and Alli are locked in a fierce three-way fight, all within 15km of one another. Ede is holding steady about 20km back — possibly saving her legs for a decisive late charge. This one's set for a dramatic finish. 

Nicky has reported that today hasnot only been tough going in the heat but with relentless hills and headwind all day, here she is taking a short break for a legendary Greggs Vegan Sausage Roll, who can blame her!

A little further back Jess Golding reports of losing her mind on the some hellish A roads, and our Lantern Rouge Cheryl has reached Caenarfon where it looks like she is taking a well earned rest.

In the men’s race, Tom continues to lead with a 50km gap and just 125km to go. He’s on pace to break the 40-hour barrier. Behind him, Tim Shao is having an outstanding debut, sitting 20km ahead of Trystan. Rhys Clarke holds 4th with clear air around him, while a determined group further back is scrapping for those final top 10 places.

In the pairs race, Christoph and Hunter have tightened their grip at the front, now 80km ahead of Eva and Stanley. Meanwhile, a big shift in the standings — Sven and Johan have also scratched, which bumps Brad and Rhys into third place. They’ve now got a solid cushion behind them and will be looking to defend that podium spot all the way to the line.
