66-year-old Massimo Fusi from Italy has completed his ride after 11 days, 5 hours, and 52 minutes. Massimo started on the Cu Chulainn route but later switched to the shorter Setanta route. We estimate that he cycled over 2,000 km during his journey. Congratulations, Massimo, on a fantastic achievement!

With Massimo at the finish line, we're left wondering about Ryan's progress. His last reported position was just 136 km from Kinsale, but his tracker hasn't moved in more than a day. Ryan is the last rider still on the road, and it would be wonderful if he could finish his adventure and bring this year's TransAtlanticWay to a close.

In any case, we want to extend our gratitude to all participants for their incredible performances and allowing us to follow your dots. We hope you had an unforgettable experience and take home some amazing memories.

This year’s edition of the TAW is drawing to a close. Sinead-Marie completed her journey today, finishing in 10 days, 15 hours, and 21 minutes. Well done, Sinead-Marie—congratulations!

Now, it’s just Massimo and Ryan left on the road. They aren’t far from the finish, so we expect to see them in Kinsale tomorrow.

In the evening of day 10, the field has mostly cleared, with the majority of riders reaching the finish in Kinsale. However, three determined cyclists are still out on the road. Sinead-Marie is 267 km from the finish and steadily moving forward. Ryan is about 50 km behind her, though it's unclear whether he's taking a break or has paused for the night. Massimo seems to be on a longer pause, with 280 km left to complete the Setanta route. Best of luck to all three—stay strong!

We also want to congratulate our latest finishers. Nick, Adrian, Laura, Oliver, and Shane have recently completed their rides on the Cu Culhainn route. Two pairs, Gemma & Timo and John & Michael, as well as Bent finished the Setanta route this afternoon. Congratulations to all of you on your incredible achievements! Can you believe we are on DAY 10 of the ride?!? Well done to everyone who made it to Kinsale since we last checked in. There were a few! In the Cu Culhainn we have Guillame, Sanjay, Florian, Ed, Filippo, and in the Sedanta we have James, Padraig, Charlene, and Stuart. Looks like the beds might be full, but the riders are happy to sleep anywhere :)

Let's begin this afternoon with a few words from Adrian. In his Instagram post, he wonders what those solo riders think about during their long rides. He does not know, and neither does we. Anyone who’s spent hours, days, or weeks on their bike might understand.

What we do know is that many adventurers are still out there, riding along the Irish coast. Yesterday evening, Jesse Ahola from Finland completed the Cu Culhainn in 8 days, 22 hours, and 4 minutes. Great job, Jesse.

On the tracker map, a pack of cyclists is visible either on or just behind the Ring of Berea. They are currently between 150 and 400km from the finish line, suggesting that many participants are expected to complete their rides today and tomorrow. James Rees is heading towards Kinsale with only 25km remaining.

Additionally, we acknowledge Sinead-Marie, Ryan, and Massimo, who will take somewhat longer to finish their routes. We wish everyone an enjoyable journey. Stay strong and continue forward, Tom.


Massimo just made it through CP2, so we’re closing up that checkpoint and shifting our focus to getting everyone to the finish line.

And speaking of finishers, we’ve got some great news! Ross has claimed third place in the Cu Culhainn, crossing the finish line just 88 minutes ahead of Cristian, who takes fourth. Harald Rinner from Austria wraps up his ride in fifth after 7 days, 17 hours, and 20 minutes.

Over in the Setanta, we’ve got new finishers too. Keith comes in fifth, followed by Paul in sixth. Jörg and Liza also made it to Kinsale, choosing their own unique route to complete their ride.

With Robert officially wrapping up his race, we’ve got 24 cyclists still out there making their way to the finish. Fionn is just a few kilometers away and should be in Kinsale before midnight.

The night has seen more riders make their way to the finish in Kinsale. Fintan has crossed the line in third position on the Sedanta route, with Martin coming in fourth. Today should see a flurry of riders make the finish of their adventures, with quite a few currently between 170km-300km away in both distances. We have our second place rider in the Cu Culhainn already at the finish, Nicholas. It looks to still be a battle for third between Ross and Cristian, and we expect them both to finish today.

On the evening of Day 6, we warmly welcome Edward Davis as our third finisher in Kinsale, having successfully completed the Setanta. Nicolas and Fintan are now just a stone's throw from the finish, with their arrival expected within the next hour. Nicolas will be our second finisher of the Cu Culhainn, and Fintan is set to claim third place on the short course. Congratulations!

Meanwhile, most of our riders are exploring the breathtaking *rings* in the southwest of Ireland: the *Ring of Dingle*, *Ring of Kerry*, and *Ring of Beara*. These iconic routes, famous among tourists, are all part of this incredible adventure. The stunning coastlines offer views that are simply awe-inspiring, though the climbs and occasional headwinds can be just as breathtaking, as I experienced firsthand last year. We hope you're able to soak it all in and enjoy the ride.

Sinead-Maria is nearing CP2 and should arrive in about half an hour, becoming the second-to-last rider to get her stamp there, with Massimo following at some distance. Huge respect goes to both of you for your determination—keep those pedals turning and stay strong!

Congratulations to both Rene and Ben who are our first finishers the Sedanta and Cu Culhainn routes respectively. Rene finished the ride VERY early this morning, and Ben has just recently crossed the line. Both riders held a very comfortable gap back to second.

In the Cu Culhainn distance, Cristian and Ross were both sleeping at the same location this morning at 2am in third position, with Jesse only 20km behind them at the time. Ross was the first up out of bed and onto the road. There are currently less than 10km separating the pair, and they have approx 500km to go to Kinsale. They will be interesting to watch over the next day or so! Nicholas is still ahead in current second position with 240km to go till the finish. 

The current latern rouge is Massimo Fusi who is 1130km into the Cu Culhainn route. He started his day this morning just before 5am and looks to have spent the night at St Mary's Church in Tourmakeady. I wonder if he chose the grass of the cemetary or managed to get inside for some warm shut eye (photo from google earth).

The scratched list is growing, and as said by race director Adrian today, even though he has made TAW easier over the years, it is still a tough beast, and everyone who gets out there and gives it a go is a champion. To add to the list this morning we have Liza, Jorg, and Robert. We hope you have made some lasting memories on the beautiful roads of Ireland :)

It's day 6 of this year's TAW edition, and the situation on the course is becoming a bit more complex. Some riders have "customized" their routes by either taking shortcuts or deviating from the planned path. A snapshot of the tracker map might not reveal the full story, so a second look is often necessary.

After reviewing Rene's track, we've confirmed that he has followed the Setanta route correctly and taken his mandatory 3-hour stops. Rene might be the first to reach the finish line (on the regular way), with less than 100 km remaining. Fingers crossed for you, Rene! 

Ben, the leader in the Cu Culhainn, is also approaching the finish line, with about 120 km remaining. Benny has taken very few breaks in the last few days and has already used his two exceptions to the 3-hour pause rule. As he nears the finish, he may need to stop again to comply with the rule, but he can do so without worry. Nicholas, currently in second place, is 250 km behind him—a gap that can't be closed in just 3 hours.

Most cyclists have now made it past CP2, with only a few riders still on their way. We hope to see you at CP2 soon.

Unfortunately, we have a two new scratches. Mark Harding and Craig Pennington have had to end their adventures early. We hope you’re both doing well.
