Day 2

The glorious weather appears to be breaking, with overcast conditions and showers affecting many parts of the route today. Here’s Daniel Todd’s threatening view as he made his way towards Gweedore in County Donegal this lunchtime:

By the looks of the Race Flow, many of the leading riders rested overnight, allowing Scotsman Lindsay McCrae to take the top spot for the second time during the event. He’s now 30km ahead of Dan Harty, who’s followed by Irish rider Jason Black.

The Brompton pair (Jack Shuttleworth and Mark Donnelly-Orr) posted a summary of their ride so far – putting in an impressive 300km+ day yesterday before resting near Malin Head:

Today, the pair have been taking on the gravel sections of the route that run through Glenveagh National Park, with their efforts captured by race photographer Rich Marshall:

Ede Harrison is currently the second female on the road, 20km behind Canadian Anisa Aubin, as she continues towards checkpoint 2 at Gubduff, north of Galway:
