Adventure Syndicate Update #9

As Jenny makes her way ever-eastwards, we'll be bringing updates from the people behind the scenes of the attempt: The Adventure Syndicate.

  • Current location: Mérida, Spain
  • Miles covered so far: 16,664
  • Estimated miles to go: 1,610

Jenny has made it back to Europe, and with almost 17,000 miles on the ticker, is truly entering the last phase of her around the world adventure now.

After a herculean effort last week, which took her across the last of Canada and onto the plane for Lisbon, Jenny arrived in Europe late on Friday evening. Since then, she's already managed to push on through Portugal and has started to make her way up through Spain.

But it's not all plane sailing: a broken gear cable is the just latest in a frustrating sequence of mechanicals that, combined with over 100 days of back-to-back big days in the saddle, are taking their toll.

But none of this is going to wipe the smile off Jenny's face, as the race for the finish line in Berlin is now very much on.

At the time of writing (08/10/18), Jenny has 1,200 miles left, and has been out on the road for 114 days. That means she's averaged 147 miles a day for the previous 16,800 miles; a number that would put her estimated arrival time at 8 days from now.

If the estimates are roughly correct, Jenny stands to complete her around the world ride in 122 days, and smash the preceding record by 22 days.

Go Jenny!
